Csongor G Szigeti’s approach is classified by his conceptual and critical thinking, combined with an organic use of materials and a high level of craftsmanship. His environmental and context-oriented art is characterized by its interdisciplinarity features, however, his work, which ranges from photography and graphic design to sculpture, is technically and stylistically unclassifiable. Szigeti’s working method, which explores the iconography of urban existence and draws associations from the materials found in nature, is both humane and irrational.
Márton Orosz, art historian
From 2001, he attended the Graphic Arts Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest, then graduated in Intermedia in 2006. Between 2010 and 2014, he participated in the DLA program at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, his supervisor was Colin Foster. He has been a member of the Studio of Young Artists since 2003, and of the MAMŰ Society since 2005, of which he was president between 2011 and 2015, and continues to participate in the association's work. Since 2020, he has been a founding member of the Hungarian light art Lighthouse Association, and since 2023, a member of the International Kepes Society.
Since 2009, he has been a teacher at the Media and Design Institute in Eger, and since 2022, he also teaches at the Department of Visual Arts at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. He currently lives and works in Budapest and Eger. He regularly participates in Hungarian and international exhibitions, art projects, residency programs, and workshops from Europe to the Far East, as an invited artist or organizer.
